Testimonials
We’ve worked with:
Asian Mental Health Project
We're so grateful to have been able to work with Michelle Garcia. At the Asian Mental Health Project Stay In, Check In, she focused on Speaking to Shared Values: Intergenerational and Intercultural Communication & Healing. Her facilitation was incredibly engaging, with the perfect balance of interactive moments and space to be introspective. We highly recommend Michelle for workshops, wellness coaching, speaking engagements and more.
ASPIRE Annual Asian American Women in Leadership Conference
Michelle Garcia led a workshop titled Empowerment Through Wellness at the annual Asian American Women in Leadership Conference. Our attendees, who ranged from high schoolers to professionals, were able to authentically connect and felt empowered through the activities she facilitated. Her Safe Space Workshop was rated among the attendees' favorite part of the conference. The following year, Michelle was invited again as a speaker to highlight the work she has done to actuate her vision. The transition to a virtual workshop went well, and her new Let's Talk About Mental Health workshop was again well received by the audience who felt a meaningful connection to the shared cultural background in addition to Michelle's guidance in navigating a difficult topic.
ASPIRE Youth Leadership Program
Michelle Garcia initially served as a mentor for the ASPIRE Youth Leadership Program, and continually returned to present on mental health to the new cohorts each year. The workshops were very well received by the high school girls. Michelle led very interactive workshops, and allowed students space to learn and process new information. She modeled vulnerability by sharing her own journey which was very inspiring, as mental health in the Asian community is very rarely spoken about. The sessions allowed the girls to recognize their areas of growth, and make a plan to practice mental health and wellness. At the end of the Program, the girls pick a session that they learned the most from, and present their reflections. There were several girls who picked the mental health and wellness session because of the impact it had on them. Michelle is passionate about mental health and wellness, and is a wonderful speaker and advocate.
ASPIRE Mentorship Program
Through her workshop, Overcoming Imposter Syndrome as an Asian American Young Leader, Michelle presented on the syndrome’s “symptoms,” its impact on the AAPI community, and its reach across different personalities. The structure of her lecture was clear, organized, and accessible to participants. The empowering aspect of the session came in the form of the exercises Michelle facilitated. She creatively prompted the attendees to explore how imposter syndrome affects their goals, equipped them with tools to critically dismantle imposter thoughts, and empowered the group to actively challenge such assumptions. The time spent with her was educational, impactful, and highly praised.
Filipino Young Leaders Program (FYLPRO)
Michelle Garcia served as an incredible mentor and co-lead for FYLPRO’s first ever cohort of AANHPI high school bullying prevention Student Ambassadors Program through partnership with Act to Change. Over the course of the semester, Michelle taught youth leaders the power of peer mental health support. For one of the cohort sessions, Michelle facilitated the Mental Health as a Foundation for Success for Filipinx / Asian American Young Leaders Workshop, receiving glowing feedback! By the end of the program, the Student Ambassadors led & developed peer mental health workshops & programming at their own schools following mentorship with Michelle. Thank you Michelle for all that you do!
Hack.Diversity, New England Venture Capital Association
As part of the Hack.Diversity Summer Wellness Series, we wanted to include a component that addresses mental health in communities of color. We were delighted to feature Michelle Garcia, who came highly recommended as a community wellness workshop facilitator. Working with her, I completely understand why. She is passionate about bringing meaningful, engaging content to people in accessible ways and is very easy to work with. She was able to create a space for our audience of predominantly young Black and Latin/x emerging tech professionals, many of whom come from immigrant backgrounds. Michelle tailored the session to what we were looking to provide for our diverse community - how to create individualized wellness plans, view oneself as empowered, and overcome imposter syndrome - and helped to share and frame knowledge in compelling ways. She is a very warm, relatable presenter and it is evident that she takes her projects seriously in delivering quality content and reputable resources. Afterwards many participants expressed how much the event resonated with them and how validated Michelle made them feel. We are very fortunate to have such a strong advocate in the mental health field.
Harvard University
In her phenomenal workshop on Navigating Mental Health for BIPOC and First-Generation PhD Students, Michelle Garcia demonstrated a wealth of care and rigor when speaking about mental health with graduate students in the Harvard American Studies Program. Her informative slides centered how BIPOC and first-generation students’ experiences are imbricated in cultural factors, such as religion, gender, ethnicity, race, and ability. With activities such as the personal wellness charts, students took away tangible tools to help navigate these challenges, particularly by thinking of wellness as a holistic and embodied practice that is necessary for personal flourishing.
LEAD Filipino
Michelle Garcia lead a workshop, Mental Health as a Foundation for Success, at LEAD Filipino's Annual Fly Pinays Leadership Summit. Our Fly Pinays Leadership Summit has drawn an audience of women, girls, professionals, educators, creatives, and scholars to coalesce on shared values related to Filipino-American identity, culture, sisterhood, and mentorship. The attendees in her workshop highly praised her workshop as they left the summit knowing more about the intersection between Fil-Am culture & mental health. We all appreciated her dedication and passion for spreading awareness on the impact of mental health and empowering our Pinay attendees to make a plan to practice wellness. Michelle was an inspiring presence at our summit and we would highly recommend her to other organizations looking for mental health advocates to speak at their events.

Mental Health Connects, The Stevens Initiative
As a featured Well-Being Webinar speaker, Ms. Michelle Garcia presented & led interactive discussions on “Cross-Cultural Mental Health in the US & Beyond: Leveraging Culture to Support Wellbeing Across Global Communities.” Ms. Garcia was an ideal speaker for our intercultural exchange program for teenagers & young adults in the US & MENA (Middle East & North Africa). Her extensive experience in mental health across diverse communities, wealth of intercultural knowledge, and ability to facilitate global engagement & exchange made her a thrilling speaker! Throughout the planning process, Ms. Garcia tailored the workshop to closely meet our objectives - ensuring an informative, insightful & uplifting experience. Participants appreciated her informative presentation, resources, and strongly resonating techniques for self-awareness. Even more so, we appreciated her empathic approach to fostering a warm atmosphere for open discussion & sharing among all. Working with Ms. Garcia was a pleasure, and we are fortunate to collaborate with an inspiring global mental health advocate!
PAMANA (Philippine Mainstream Advocacy for Non-Partisan Associations, Inc.)
It is with great enthusiasm that I write this testimonial for Michelle G. Garcia. I have had the opportunity to see Michelle work as a facilitator for PAMANA’s Annual Filipino High School Leadership Workshop. I was so impressed by the flow of her presentation, her speaking and the overall aesthetics of her slide deck. Not only was her facilitation excellent, it was so perfectly catered to the theme of the year’s virtual workshops - Ang Tinig Mo Ay Mahalaga: Your Voice Matters. We really loved how she intertwined aspects of Filipino culture to the importance of mental health in ways fitting for this age group. Overall Michelle was a pleasure to collaborate with and would highly recommend her to other organizations looking for a facilitator, as well as ask her to come back to facilitate future presentations for our organization.
Pilipinx American Public Health Conference
For the virtual Pilipinx American Public Health Conference: The New Public Health, our team had the honor of having Michelle G. Garcia host a workshop titled Empowerment Through Wellness: Mental Health as a Foundation for Success for Pilipinx American Young Leaders. This hands-on, thought provoking workshop left many student and professional attendees inspired. The information and tools learned in the workshop led our participants working in the field of public health to a better understanding of Pilipinx and Pilipinx-American mental health and wellness. We look forward to collaborating and learning more from Michelle G. Garcia in the future!
University of Massachusetts Boston Asian Student Center
It is with great enthusiasm that we write this testimonial for Michelle Garcia. As part of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebration, we held a virtual Mental Health Workshop: Empowerment through Wellness particularly intended for the pan-Asian students of University of Massachusetts Boston. We invited Michelle to facilitate the workshop where she shared her own experiences of the wellness challenges associated with navigating higher education and early career as a Filipina American, as she promoted a safe and brave space for students to share their own stories and wellness wins, challenges and goals. Her workshop also included reflective activities and discussions for students to explore elements of their own cultures and communities that support their mental health. Students gained insights of utilizing the power of personal storytelling as a means to break mental health stigma and expand Asian American narratives.
